Summer Skin Types

As much as the weather is trying to convince us otherwise, Summer is finally here! So now is the perfect time to give you the top tips and tricks for how you should be looking after your skin during the warmer months.

As the peak of Summer approaches, we often experience an increase in pigmentation, oily or dry skin and rashes as the weather gets hotter.

Stay Hydrated

It is common to feel your skin drying out; this is because your body is working overtime to keep your body cool. The amount of water you consume has a direct effect on your skin, so it super important to stay hydrated as this directly effects the condition of your skin. So, drink plenty of water!

Consider a lighter moisturiser

Even though you will sweat more your skin will still need hydrating. However, as we mentioned dryness isn’t uncommon, you might reach for a less rich moisturiser to use during the hotter season.

Invest in a face mist!

If you are out in the heat, then there is nothing better for hydrating and cooling your skin than a face mist, whilst also closing pores. This can be used as many times as you like throughout the day at any time. Here is one of our top mists for Summer.

Wear SPF

Yes, wearing SPF out in the sun the obvious advice, but you should be applying SPF even on the cloud covered days. To make sure you are wearing the correct amount you should be following the two-finger method. Apply the product to the full length of your index and ring fingers and apply evenly across the face and neck.

On those brighter days, or when you are away on holiday you should be reapplying SPF regularly throughout the day to ensure your skin is fully protected.

Use Retinol and Vitamin C in moderation!

Although there is nothing within Vitamin C & retinol/retinal guidelines to say that you should not be using in the sun, you may find that you see increased irritation in the sun. This is because the products may increase the sensitivity of your skin creating irritation.

You do not need to completely stop using the product, however it might be a good idea to alternate them with another gentler product to reduce any effects.
