As the cold weather hits us and the dark nights set in, you will start to see changes to your skin. A lot of us won’t amend our skincare routine as the weather changes, but we should think of our skincare routine similarly to a wardrobe. As the seasons change you change your clothing so, you should adjust your routine accordingly.
Don’t over cleanse- Over cleansing can cause your skin to dry out. Your skin needs all the moisture it can get during this weather, especially if you suffer with dry or sensitive skin.
Change to a cleansing milk- If you usually use a foaming cleanser, it might be worth looking at swapping that to a milk-based cleanser as these are more hydrating for your skin.
Oils and balms- These can be a lovely addition to your skincare routine by adding a bit of relaxation to your evening routine. Oils and balms will give your skin an extra nourishing boost that it might need at the end of a day after being out in the cold weather.
Keep your shower cooler- It is easy to feel tempted to turn up the heat in the shower to warm you up this can be damaging to your skin.
SPF- Do not forget to apply your SPF we often think that because the sun is hiding away, we do not need to apply SPF, but this could not be more wrong. It is essential that you continue to use SPF every day, the rays can still get to you from behind the clouds.
Boost your vitamin D- As you aren’t getting it from the sun you should try and get some extra vitamin D to make sure you have a healthy dose daily. Both tablets and sprays are available to take daily.
